This is our ‘where to go’ guide for your Christmas party this year whether it be rounding up the troops in the office, an impromptu reunion with friends or a sophisticated family get-together. Christmas can sometimes be confusing and stressful, with all eateries trying to up their game at this time of year to offer something unique and special, we can end up feeling spoilt for choice. As the party organiser, there are always a variety of factors to take into consideration to ensure that you are catering for everybody, you will need to consider: 1. transport & therefore 2. location, 3. dietary requirements, 4. setting & atmosphere and of course how appropriate the venue is vs the types of people that you will be hosting. We have done extensive digging and below are our recommended 10 eateries to have your Christmas Party:
01Novi, Regent Street
Great for: Mood lighting, ambience, large groups as there are private rooms & multiple floors, botanical cocktails.
Cuisine: Inspiration from various cuisines: British, Mediterranean, Asian - from small plates to sharing boards & street food.
£: 3 courses (including arrival prosecco) £30.
02Pho, Wheeler Street
Great for: Trendy, good vibes, one of the better ‘chain’ restaurants, inspired by the street food in Ho Chi Minh City, a waiting area / bar where you can enjoy drinks prior to your booking, fuss-free tasty eats.
£: 2 courses £14.95 / 3 courses £18.95.
03Pint Shop, Peas Hill
Great for: Central location thus plenty of options for pre-drinks, trendy take on the British classics, simplicity, bearded hipster types, large groups, craft beer.
Cuisine: The same concept from day 1: Bread - Meat - Beer: simple British food cooked over real charcoal.
£: 3 courses £29.50.
04SIX, Thompson’s Lane
Great for: Panoramic views of the city, smaller groups, sophisticated dining.
Cuisine: Modern, seasonal, British and locally sourced food, from a variety of traditional meat & fish dishes to gourmet pizza.
£: 3 courses (lunch) £34.50 / 3 courses (dinner) £42.50.
On the outskirts:
05Bedouin, Mill Road
Great for: A warm & welcome atmosphere, families, real hearty eats, mood lighting & candle lit dinners, quirky decor, not your typical restaurant vibe.
Cuisine: Wholesome & flavoursome North African cuisine.
£: 3 courses £29.50.
06Orchid, Newmarket Road
Great for: A sophisticated & elegant take on your classic Chinese favourites, private rooms for upto 20 people, karaoke.
Cuisine: Modern fusion Chinese food, fine dining(ish).
£: Dishes range between £9.50 - 16.50 for mains, with the exception of a few 'special dishes' priced at £24 / 28 / 38. If you have a specific budget to work with, you could always put together a condensed version of the menu for your team to choose from (starters/ mains & dessert & possibly a couple bottles for welcome drinks). It might then be an idea to arrange to put in you pre-orders with the restaurant prior to your booking.
07Restaurant 22, Chesterton Road
Great for: Exceptional service & dining experience, innovative creations using locally sourced & seasonal produce, fine dining, leaving an impression.
Cuisine: Modern & contemporary British dining, with a weekly changing menu dependant on what seasonal produce is available.
£: 5 courses £40 / 7 courses £50.
08Bistro @ Cambridge Cookery School, Purbeck Road
Great for: *NOTE: this is a cafe & they operate as a bistro on a Saturday night only.* A hidden gem, relaxed & casual dining with style, substance & sophistication, al fresco dining, family- friendly.
Cuisine: Weekly changing menus inspired by seasonal, local & sustainable produce.
£: 2 courses £28 / 3 courses £36.

09The Willow Tree, Bourn
Great for: A unique & fairy tale venue with meadows, tree swings & a tipi, the tipi is a unique space for 10-20 people to enjoy private dining, special celebrations & available for lunch or dinner (3 course seasonal menu & a glass of fizz £50pp - pricing includes fairy lights, fire pit & logs, speaker dock, dedicated waiter and use of country garden & tree swings), bolt on experiences also available such as gin or champagne tasting, table magician or cabaret performance.
Cuisine: British / gastro pub style.
£: 2 courses £25 / 3 courses £32.
10The Rupert Brooke
Great for: The surrounding pubs & fields, a relaxed evening away from the hustle & bustle away from the city, great service.
Cuisine: Inspired by British brasserie-style food, with ingredients sourced from local producers.
£: 3 courses (Sun - Thurs) £28 / 3 courses (Fri + Sat) £32.
The above venues, although differing in various ways, all have two things in common: a good atmosphere & good food offering for large parties; each venue is also able to cater for herbivores.
